Piccaninnie Ponds is a CDAA rated sinkhole site between Mt Gambier and Portland.  The site has 3 main sections.  A 10 m deep lake is adjacent to the entry pontoon.  At the western side of the lake a shallow lip leads in to the chasm, a 30m long, 5m wide and 36m deep split in the rock.  At the bottom of the Chasm is a hole called the Dogleg.  CDAA regulations prohibit access into the dogleg.  Further west from the Chasm over another lip at about 18m is the Cathedral.
