Rapid Bay Jetty is a steel long steel jetty operated by BHP to load gravel until the early 1990's.  It is probably the best place in the world to see South Australia's marine emblem, the Leafy Seadragon (Phycodurus eques).  In recent years the structure of the jetty has deteriorated and the end is now closed.

The jetty faces north and so is sheltered from the generally southerly winds in winter.  There is an entry platform for divers about 300m out along the jetty on the western side.  The varied and abundant fish life always makes it worth the walk.
